Menstrual Hygiene Management Program for Adolescent Girls in Tea Garden Areas

In the remote interior and tea garden areas of Assam, menstruation is still surrounded by silence, shame, and misinformation. Disaster Management and Fire Safety Awareness Camp

Assam is one of the most disaster-prone states in India. Floods, fires, earthquakes, and storms affect our villages every year. But in interior areas, people do not know how to save themselves when a disaster strikes. To save lives before disaster strikes, WARIORS organizes Disaster Management and Fire Safety Awareness Camps in collaboration with the Fire & Emergency Services Department, Assam. Why This Camp?In rural and tea garden areas, most houses are made of bamboo and thatch, which catch fire very easily. During a flood or fire, people panic because they have never had any training. Our aim is to give practical, life-saving knowledge to the common people. What We Do in The Camp? The camp is conducted by professional Fire Brigade Officers, Civil Defence personnel, and our trained volunteers.1. Live Demonstration by Fire Brigade:How a fire starts and how to stop it from spreadingHow to use a fire extinguisher – every participant gets a chance to try itHow to rescue people from a burning houseHow to make an emergency exit from a house2. Flood and Earthquake Safety Training:What to do during a flood – how to make a simple floating raft with banana trees and plastic bottlesWhat to keep in an emergency bag – dry food, torch, medicines, important documentsHow to give first aid to an injured personEarthquake – “Drop, Cover, and Hold” practice3. Special Focus for Women and Children:
We train women and adolescent girls on how to protect their children and elderly family members first during any emergency. Our Collaboration:We are grateful to the Assam Fire & Emergency Services, Golaghat and Biswanath District Administration for sending their expert team, fire tender, and equipment to our camps and for making learning very practical and exciting for villagers.Impact Till 2026:15+ Disaster Management Camps organized in flood-prone villages2500+ villagers, students, and women trained in life-saving skills100+ women volunteers trained as first responders in their own villagesWe cannot stop a disaster, but we can prepare our community to survive it.
