When Humanity Wins: Rescuing an Abandoned Pregnant Woman in Tinsukia–
“In a busy city, no one had time to look at her. But our warriors did.”In the streets of Tinsukia, a mentally ill woman was wandering alone. She was 8 months pregnant, without food, without shelter, and without any prenatal care. She did not even understand that a new life was growing inside her. Her condition was a painful reflection of how vulnerable women are often forgotten by society. When our WARIORS Tinsukia Branch received this information, we knew we could not wait. The Rescue OperationOur dedicated team – Pinky Moran, Namita Saikia, and Jonmoni Moran – along with our District Co-Secretary Lakshya Moran and Blood Admin Amijul Haque, searched for her. With the help of the local police, we rescued her and brought her to Tinsukia Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance. Amijul Haque accompanied her for more than 50-60 km and stayed with us till 7:30 PM, risking his own safety. We immediately informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the Deputy Commissioner, ADC Nilotpal Sharma Sir, and Dr. Gobin Mahanta Sir, who extended their full cooperation. The Real ChallengeAfter admission, the hospital required a 24-hour attendant. Without someone beside her, she would try to run away. Our Tinsukia sisters took turns – staying day and night in the hospital, without proper food or sleep, just to keep her safe. There was no government shelter available to keep her till her delivery. For an 8-month pregnant mother, this was a crisis. At that moment, our District President, Mrs. Ranju Buragohain, stepped forward like an angel. She said, “From today, she is our guest. I will keep her in my own home and take care of her till delivery.” She brought the mother to her own house.Today, the mother is safe and secure at Ranju Baidew’s home. The medical department is regularly visiting her for check-ups.Our CommitmentWARIORS will bear all expenses for her nutritious food, medical care, and delivery. We will take full responsibility for both mother and child until a permanent rehabilitation solution is found by the administration. Our organization runs entirely on the small, selfless contributions of our own members. We have not received a single rupee of government aid till date. This story raises a big question – when crores of rupees are spent in the name of welfare, why is there not a single bed for one night for such helpless mothers? We salute our Tinsukia Heroes: Ranju Buragohain, Lakshya Moran, Pinky Moran, Namita Saikia, Jonmoni Moran, Amijul Haque, Jyoti Gogoi, Pallabi Baruah, Pratima Phukan, Pratibha Baruah, Karabi Dutta.Humanity is still alive.

From Agony to Hope: The Story of Naren Barman from Jamugurihat
naren-barman-sonitpur-medical-help
Naren Barman, 45 years old, from Jamugurihat, Sonitpur, is the sole earner of a family of five with three small children. For the last seven months, he lived with an unbearable pain. His left hand was severely infected and rotting, with the infection reaching deep to the bone.

The pain was so intense that he could not sleep, could not work, and even thought of ending his life.He wrapped his hand with a cloth and went door to door looking for work, but no one would hire him. He also went door to door seeking medical help, but treatment would cost more than Rs. 50,000, which was impossible for a daily wage labourer. When WARIORS Sonitpur team heard about him, we immediately reached his home. Our InterventionOur Sonitpur team members – Birati Borthakur, Arjun Chetry, Puja Acharya, Nituparna Sharma, Sunil Agarwal, Baby Borthakur, Himadri and Jayanta – met him and assured him of treatment.

Though our organization runs only on small contributions from our own members without any government aid, we decided to take full responsibility. We arranged funds from our teammates and shifted him to GMCH, Guwahati. At GMCH, our Kamrup Metro team – Sonmani Bayan, Himadri Bharadwaj Bhatta, Haren Deka, Dhanjit Haloi, Nizara Chetia, Manalisha Boro and our blood donors – took over his care. They stayed day and night in the hospital, supporting him with tests, medicines, and all requirements. After almost one month of continuous treatment, doctors had no other option to save his life except amputation. His hand was amputated and the operation was successful.Today Naren is Pain-FreeToday, Naren is free from that unbearable pain and is alive. But with one hand lost, he cannot work as a labourer anymore. His family still needs to survive.WARIORS wants to support Naren with a small livelihood – a small grocery shop or livestock support – so he can feed his children with dignity. We Saved His Life. Now Help Us Secure His Livelihood.Your small contribution can give this family a new beginning.Donate Now: wariors.co.inWe thank all our Sonitpur and Kamrup Metro warriors who made this rescue possible.

A Child Rescued After 5 Years of Isolation: Story from ChabuaIn a remote village of Chabua, a 10-year-old girl lived a life no child should ever live. For more than five years, she was kept tied and isolated from the outside world.According to local information, her mother had left the family about six years ago after a family dispute. Her father, a daily wage labourer, would leave for work early in the morning and return in the evening. Her grandmother, who was looking after her, started tying her up when she was 5 years old because she was restless and hyperactive. Gradually, it became a habit, and the child was left tied under a bamboo grove or on a veranda alone for the entire day, without proper clothes, food care, or human interaction. The child, who could speak as a small kid, gradually lost her ability to speak due to lack of interaction and trauma.

She could understand everything and would cry out, but no one was there to listen. Our InterventionOn 6th June, our Tinsukia District Vice President Namita Saikia received information and a photo about the child. She immediately discussed the matter with District President Utpal Shivam. On 7th June at 8 AM, Vice President Namita Saikia along with informer Champa Gogoi travelled nearly 38 km on scooty and reached the spot. What she saw was truly heartbreaking. She immediately contacted our President and then called Childline Helpline (1098). The child was untied, cleaned and given proper clothes to wear.On receiving the call, two Childline workers from Dibrugarh along with Tengakhat Police reached the location after 2-3 hours. After initial verification, they instructed that the child be produced before the CJM Court and handed over to CWC, Dibrugarh. As 8th June was a 2nd Saturday and the court was closed, the police and CWC officials asked the father to bring the child to Tengakhat Police Station on 9th and then on 10th June for production before the court to be placed under the care and protection of Child Welfare Committee.During this entire process, our Tinsukia team counselled the family and neighbours to never tie the child again and to treat her with dignity.Present StatusThe team members present from Tinsukia District were – Advisors Rubul Chetia and Bobi Chetia, President Ranju Phukan, Vice President Namita Saikia, Secretary Sunanda Gogoi and our Dibrugarh teammate Mridula Gogoi.A child who lived in isolation for 5 years is now on her way to a safe shelter, education and a dignified life.We thank Childline Dibrugarh, Tengakhat Police and CWC Dibrugarh for their support. We will continue to follow up on her rehabilitation, medical checkup and education. We thank all our Tinsukia and Dibrugarh warriors who made this rescue possible.
